Steam

How do you steam your face? How does steaming help? How often should you steam?

How does steaming help?
Steam is used during a facial for two main reasons.

If you have dry skin, try steaming after applying some rich moisturising cream with a gentle massage. The heat and moisture will help the cream work better and also rehydrate your skin.

If for any reason, you feel your skin can't take steaming, you could try this option. Warm some water and add some herbs to it. Soak a soft towel in this water. Wring the towel after it soaks for a bit, and cover your face and neck with it until it cools.

If you want to combine the benefits of a steam with the therapeutic qualities of herbs and aromatherapy, simply place a dried herb mixture in a clean bowl and pour some water that is near boiling point in it. Let your face take in the steam released and feel the nourishing properties of the herbs get into your skin as your pores open. Don't use water that's too hot as it will evaporate the essential oils and you won't get any benefits. Try using lemongrass, vanilla or lavender essential oils, which have a refreshing effect. If you have normal to oily skin, try two drops of peppermint oil or two bags of peppermint tea. If your skin is dry or sensitive, try chamomile.
